dubrovnik old city
Past days we explored Dubrovnik and surroundings. The first thing I did was get up early at seven getting into the old city to make pictures of a nearly empty center. Love to do that, because it always is a special experience, like a time voyage, and you then really see how beautiful this town is. After breakfast we did the city-walls, with a lot of other people, however still acceptable numbers. Probably the flood of groups still had to arrive. It was really worthwhile and very interesting, no wonder it is a touristic top attraction. In the morning and evening you see this town at its best . By the way today we saw a movie from 1969 and it showed that also then the city was crowded with tourists. Yesterday we went uphill to the old fort, being extended by Napoleon and the Austrians, Up there you have an impressive view on Dubrovnik, its walls and the surrounding coast. Behind the fort you find a rough area, with wild horses, You still see part of the damage caused by the so called “homeland war” between the Serbs and Croatians in 1991, who besieged Dubrovnik from here and the see. Walking down to the city you keep enjoying the views
